Goddess Kushmanda is the fourth form of Navadurga, worshipped on the fourth day of Navratri. Her name is derived from three words:
"Ku" (little),
"Ushma" (warmth or energy),
"Anda" (cosmic egg).
This means she is the creator of the universe, who brought light into the darkness of the cosmos with her divine smile.
She represents energy, radiance, and divine creation. She is known as the Adi Shakti (the original power) who gave birth to the universe.
She has eight arms and is also called Ashtabhuja Devi.
She carries weapons like a trident, discus, bow, and arrow, symbolizing power and protection.
She holds a kamandalu (water pot), lotus, and rosary, representing wisdom, purity, and devotion.
She holds a kalash (pot) filled with nectar, symbolizing immortality and divine blessings.
She rides a lion, signifying strength and courage.
She radiates a golden glow, as she is believed to have created the sun and its light.
She is believed to have created the universe with her divine smile when there was only darkness.
She is the source of all energy, and worshiping her fills devotees with strength and positivity.
Worshiping her removes diseases, fears, and suffering.
She bestows wisdom, success, and prosperity upon her devotees.
When there was nothing but darkness, Goddess Kushmanda created the cosmic egg (Brahmanda) with her divine smile.
