Goddess Chandraghanta is the third form of Navadurga, worshipped on the third day of Navratri. Her name comes from two words:
"Chandra" (moon), symbolizing serenity and spiritual enlightenment
"Ghanta" (bell), representing fearlessness and warrior energy
She is known as the Goddess of peace, courage, and justice, balancing compassion and strength.
She has a golden complexion and ten arms, holding weapons like a trident, sword, bow, arrow, and mace, symbolizing protection and power.
A crescent moon (Chandra) shaped like a bell (Ghanta) adorns her forehead, giving her the name Chandraghanta.
She rides a tiger, representing fearlessness and the destruction of evil.
While she has a calm and divine presence, she can turn into Chandraghanta Devi – the fierce warrior form of Durga to protect her devotees from demons and negative energies.
She embodies both serenity and warrior-like strength, teaching that one must be calm yet strong to face challenges.
Worshiping her removes fears, negative energies, and obstacles from life.
She brings peace, prosperity, and spiritual awakening to her devotees.
Her bell’s sound wards off evil spirits and negativity, creating a protective shield.
After marrying Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati adorned her forehead with a crescent moon in the shape of a bell.
She took a fierce warrior form when demons attacked heaven, defeating them and protecting the gods and humanity.
Since then, she has been worshiped as Chandraghanta – the warrior goddess who destroys evil and upholds dharma.
