January 26 has marked as International Customs Day 2023. The World Customs Organization dedicates International Customs Day 2024 to scale up Customs Digital Transformation by Embracing a Data Culture and Building a Data Ecosystem.
International Customs Day (also known as ICD) is celebrated on January 26th each year by customs organizations all around the globe, with the United Nations as the host. The Customs Co-operation Council (CCC) was formed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the very first WCO (World Customs Organization) conference in Geneva.
It is the only intergovernmental organization that is solely concerned with customs administration, and it now has over 177 members in the World Customs Organization (WCO). The Globe Customs Organization was established in 1952 as an autonomous organization with the mission of assisting customs agencies around the globe in increasing their effectiveness and efficiency.

The establishment of the Customs Co-operation Council was commemorated on the 15th of December in the year 1950 in the Belgian capital of Brussels. However, it entered into effect two years later, on the 4th of November in the year 1952, and was formally launched on the 26th of January in the year 1953, with the participation of delegates from a variety of different nations on the occasion. Since its establishment as a World Customs Organization in 1994, it has grown into a worldwide intergovernmental organization.
The subject of this year’s International Customs Day emphasis on the importance of a business-to-business approach. Among the numerous areas where it helps are commercial distribution network securities, global customs expansion, improving corporate standards, and citizen partnerships. Participants of the World Customs Organization (WCO) observe International Customs Day as a beautiful reminder of their important role in customs administrations all around the globe.
Rather than escalating the dangers associated with international safety, international customs organizations play a significant role in the development of global commerce. The threat of international terrorism has a detrimental impact on the global business environment.
As a result, it has been agreed to observe International Customs Day every year in order to meet the needs of the customs authorities. It is in charge of regulating the better creation and understanding of commercial enterprises. World Customs Organization (WCO) encourages the expansion of lawful commerce on an international scale by taking a number of important measures. It contributes to the reduction of the threat of fraudulent operations by fostering a frank, evident, and secure customs environment around the globe.
Annual commemoration of the World Customs Organization’s founding in 1953, which was intended to promote international customs cooperation, is held to commemorate the anniversary of the organization’s creation. In order to improve effectiveness in customs, the Secretary-General of the World Customs Organization has called for the promotion of leadership and management training in the organization.
It is observed in a variety of ways in various parts of the world. For its officers to be able to deal with the current trends and a wide range of problems, the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority strives to offer them with quality services and management on a daily basis.
