Who is Environment?

The word environment is formed from the combination of environment + cover. 'Peri' means surround and 'cover' means surroundings. In other words, the environment i.e. all living beings including flora, fauna and human race and the physical complex associated with them is called environment. The results etc. are all inclusive.

Importance of Environmental Protection:

Environmental protection is closely related to the life of all living beings and all the natural surroundings of this earth. The whole earth is getting polluted due to pollution and the end of human civilization is visible in the near future. Keeping this situation in mind, in 1992, 'Earth Conference' of 174 countries of the world was organized in Brazil.

After this, by organizing the Earth Conference in Johannesburg in 2002, many measures were suggested to all the countries of the world to pay attention to environmental protection. In fact, only by protecting the environment can life on earth be preserved.

How can environmental protection be done?

Following efforts can be made to protect the environment:-

  • Do not cut down the forests.
  • Use available water in the ground only when you need it.
  • Stop producing intoxicating gases like carbon.
  • Recycle used water.
  • Make arrangements to save rain water to bring the ground water back to level.
  • Limit noise pollution.
  • Skip plastic envelopes and use junk paper envelopes or cloth bags.
  • Switch off the fan and light of the room where there is no one.
  • Do not let the water run out unnecessarily.
  • In today's internet age, if we pay all our bills online then it will not only save our time but paper as well as petrol diesel.
  • Walk more and cycle more.
  • Use techniques that have a positive connection to nature. Such as (i) use of organic manure (ii) less use of canned materials.
  • Promote climate-improving technologies.
  • Resist the conspiracies to end the mountain.
